Window replacement at the Royal College of Curepipe

This project was awarded by the Ministry of Education following a competitive tender process. The Royal College building in Curepipe is a National Heritage Fund (NHF) listed building, which required prior NHF approval for any work carried out. The 64 existing wooden windows were replaced with solid teak windows featuring clear glazing and brass hardware imported from India to closely match the original design.

  • Removal of 64 existing wooden windows (1.3 m x 2.4 m)
  • Masonry repairs at the wall/joinery interfaces
  • Manufacturing and installation of 64 teak windows with 6 mm clear glazing, painted according to specifications
  • Supply of brass hardware imported from India to match existing hardware (locks, hinges, handles)
  • Removal, stripping and repainting anti-burglary bars
  • Project cost: 2.9 million MUR (including VAT)
  • Duration: 1 year (July 2019 to July 2020, delays due to lockdown, no penalty applied)
